Sewing for mom

Al tijden lag dit stofje op de denkbeeldige 'nog wat mee te doen' stapel. Het bleef maar liggen, omdat het een lastige stof is om mee te naaien: het is glibberig, stretch en dun. Eigenlijk durfde ik er dus niets van te maken.

Maar het moest er ooit van komen. Het stofje was al geselecteerd om iets voor mijn moeder van te naaien. Omdat je alles ziet in deze stof, heb ik gekozen voor een wijd vallend model. De hals en de mouwen heb ik op verschillende manieren afgewerkt. De mouwen door de stof te verstevigen met vliesofix. De hals door naadband mee te naaien in het beleg en het beleg als een biaisband naar binnen te vouwen. Beide afwerkingen krijgen niet de schoonheidsprijs, maar het ziet er beter uit dan ik had gedacht. Ondanks de pas sessie van te voren, valt de hals toch iets te wijd. 

Maar heel belangrijk: mijn moeder is er blij mee! (Maar volgens mij komt dat met name doordat ze iets aan heeft wat haar dochter heeft gemaakt...)

For a year this fabric was in my closet. I did not dare to use is because is a difficult fabric: stretch, slippery and thin. But now was the time to make something out of it for my mother. I used a pattern with a wide model, because you can see everthing with this fabric. 

Finishing the sleeves and neck in a nice way, was difficult. I used two different ways: facing with vliesofix by the sleeves and shapingtape (or maybe is the correct word: seam band) for the neckline. I sewed the facing in the neckline like biaisband. Both was are not optimal, but is better than I thought it would be. The neckline is al little bit too wide, even though my mother fitted the top before sewing.

But the most important is: my mother is happy with it (but that can also be due to te fact that this is the first thing I have sewed for her..)

Liebster award 2015

Wat een eer, ik heb de Liebster Award 2015 ontvangen van Inspinration! En dat een jaar nadat ik begonnen ben met bloggen! Wat ontzetten leuk! Dankjewel Inspinration!

De Liebster Award is een virturele award voor beginnende/kleine bloggers (minder dan 200 volgers) om de persoon achter de blog beter te leren kennen, en om aan te geven dat je zijn/haar blog echt de moeite waarde vindt. 

De regels:

1. Je bedankt de persoon die je genomineerd heeft, en plaatst een link naar zijn/haar blog in je blogpost.
2. Je beantwoordt de 11 vragen die je gekregen hebt bij de nominatie.
3. Je nomineert zelf 5 tot 11 andere bloggers die minder dan 200 volgers hebben, en brengt hen hiervan op de hoogte.
4. Je mag zelf niet terug genomineerd worden.
   

De vragen die ik van Inspinration heb ontvangen:
1. Welke van je blog berichten/[project ben het meest trots op?
Dat is de broek voor mijn oudste neefje. Dit was mijn eerste ingewikkelde project, die ook nog goed gelukt was.
2. Welke naaitechniek heb je toch een beetje angst voor?
Ritsen inzetten... Dat gaat tot nu toe nog nooit vlekkeloos.
3. Wat is je quilty pleasure?
Willen jullie dat echt weten? Stiekem vind ik de oude liedjes van Kinderen voor Kinderen nog steeds leuk om te horen ('als ik de baas zou zijn van het journaal', etc). Zal wel iets zijn met nostalgie... 
4. Welke blog moet je echt lezen, die je niet voor de Liebster Award kan nomineren omdat ze teveel volgers hebben?
De blog Van Jansen. Zij maakt oa moderne, frisse kleding voor haar dochters en anders leuke DIY´s.
5. Wat is het verhaal achter de stof die je langst in je kast hebt liggen?
Ik denk dat het een klein stukje oranje voeringstof het langste in mijn kast ligt. Toen ik 15 was had ik deze stof gekocht voor het maken van kussenhoesjes voor kussens op mijn bed. Wist ik toen veel dat het voeringstof was. Op de stof had ik kraaltjes genaaid in de vorm van bloemetjes.
6. Wat is je favoriete TV programma?
Boer zoekt vrouw! Al 10 seizoenen lang mis ik geen aflevering!
7. Wat zou je direct kopen als geld geen probleem zou zijn?
Daar moet ik toch even over nadenken... Onbeperkt shoppen bij de Bijenkorf zou leuk zijn of een 25 meter bad aan laten leggen in de tuin. Maar dan moet we ook eerst even een nieuw huis kopen met een grotere tuin waar het bad inpast.
8. Waar wordt je gefrustreerd van?
Dit vind ik een lastige vraag. Ik word niet snel echt gefrustreerd, maar ik kan wel heel slecht tegen onrechtvaardigheid.

9. Wat is je meest gelukkige herinnering?
De geboorte van onze zoon (lees: een uur na de geboorte, toen in weer op planeet aarde geland was en zag wat voor moois ik op mijn buik had liggen). Maar ik heb ook helemaal gelukkige herinneringen aan onze (luxe) backpack vakanties.
10. Wat voor nieuwe hobby zou je willen leren?
Ik heb vroeger altijd veel getekend. Dat zou ik wel weer eens willen oppakken en cursus in willen volgen. Maar nu is naaien mijn grootste hobby waar ik mijn vrije tijd in steek.
11. Wat is je favoriete app?
WhatsApp! Het is zo handig en leuk om met je familie en vrienden in contact te blijven en gezamenlijk afspraken te kunnen maken. Op dit moment verstuurd ik met name babyfoto's en -filmpjes via de app :).

1. Which of your own blog posts (the project related to it) are you most proud of?
I am the most proud of the pair of pants I made for my oldest nephew. This pant was de first more complicated project.
2. What sewing technique secretly still frightens you (a bit)?
Inserting zippers... Untill now I never managed to perfectly insert a zipper.
3. What is your guilty pleasure?
Do you really want to know that? I still like some old song from Kinder voor Kinderen, like 'Als ik de baas zou zijn van het journaal'. Maybe it has something to do with nice memories.

4. What blog should we read which you couldn't  nominate due to too many followers
This would be the blog van Van Jansen. She sews really nice and modern clothes for her girls, but also make other beautiful DIY'S
5. What is the story behind the fabric that has been in your closet the longest?
A piece of orange fabric is in my closet for about 13 years. I bought it when I was 15 and used it for cushion covers. I decorated the fabric with beads in flower forms. A couple of years later I only knew that it was lining fabric.
6. What is your favorite tv show?
Boer zoekt Vrouw! For 10 seasons I never missed an episode.
7. What would you buy yourself now, immediately if money was not an issue.
I would be nice to unlimited shop in de Bijenkorf (luxery warehouse) or have a 25 meter pool in our backyard.  
8. What frustrates the hell out of you?
This is a difficult question. I think I do't get really quickly frustrated, but I can't handle injustice.
9. What is your most happy memory?
The birth of our son (read: one hour after I had giving birth, by the time I was landed back on earth again and really saw our beautiful son lying on my chest). But I also have very happy memories of the (luxery) backpack holidays with my partner.
10. What kind of new hobby would you like to learn?
When I was little I painted a lot. I would like to (re)learn that by following some courses. But right now, I spend al my spare time with sewing.
11. What is your favorite app?
Definitely WhatsApp! It is als ideal to keep in touch with my friends and family. The last weeks I used it mostely to send sweet pictures en videos of my son.

More babyleggings!

A friend of my gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. So I wanted to make a babygift. This time the easy to sew babyleggings! I also made a pair for our little boy. He is showing you the result.

I made the leggings more personalized and professional by adding a sizelabel and my own label.

How the clothes I made really look like

I sewed a lot of clothes/ things for our little boy and I was so curious if everthing fitted. Jelte was bigger (4555gr) than the average baby so unfortunately not everthing fitted: the cute hats were to small.

Some clothes fit perfectly and some needed some improvements. What I need to remember for the next time I'm going to sew something similar:
- Make a onesie / jumpsuit with enough space for a thick diaper. I improved this jumpsuit by  adjusting extra fabric between the legs.

- Ribbons to close a cardigan is not convenient. I replaced the ribbons of  this cardigan with buttons.

- Use vlieseline for eyelets. I didn't do that, so one of the eyeltes of this pants is broken.

- You can't have enough burp cloths. I have made some extra.

So far is this my favorite pants. A cool pants that fits well and is good to combine with shirts.


Ik heb heel wat genaaid voor onze kleine man en was natuurlijk ontzettend nieuwsgierig of alles zou passen. Omdat hij toch iets groter geboren was (4550 gr) dan een gemiddelde baby paste hij niet alles: alle mutsjes die ik had genaaid, waren te klein :(.

Ander kleding paste perfect en bij een aantal dingen kwam ik er achter dat het nog enige verbetering behoefte. Wat ik moet onthouden voor een volgende keer dat ik iets ga naaien:
- een onesie/jumpsuit maken met voldoende ruimte voor een dikke luier. Ik heb dit pakje naar het patroon van Kiind aangepast door er een extra inzetje in te maken.

- Overslagvestjes met een lintje vastmaken is niet handig. Ik heb bij dit vestje de lintjes vervangen voor knoopjes.

- Verstevig de stof op de plek van de nestelogen. Ik was dit vergeten dus bij dit broekje is al 1 nesteloog los.

- Spuugdoekjes kan je nooit genoeg hebben. Ik heb er dus maar een aantal bij gemaakt.

Tot nu toe is dit broekje mijn favoriet. Een stoer broekje die goed past en goed te combineren is met shirtjes.

eindelijk is hij er!

Het is al even stil op mijn blog en dat zal het de komende tijd ook nog zijn, want mijn tijd wordt opgeslokt door een lief klein mannetje! Op 7 januari is na 42 weken zwangerschap en een lange bevalling onze zoon Jelte geboren!

Eindelijk konden al de zelfgemaakte kleding en spulletjes in gebruik worden genomen!

In de vlinder deken naar het patroon van svdhz. De stof is van Stenzo. 

Jelte in de donker blauwe broek die ik hier maakte en een wit shirt met geflockte berenkop erop.

Zelf gemaakte overslag vest in dezelfde stof als ik hier heb gebruikt.

Compromis kussens | cushions

Qua inrichting van ons huis liggen mijn vriend en ik redelijk op een lijn. Maar als het om kleur gaat niet. Hij vindt veel (felle) kleur in huis mooi terwijl ik houd van neutrale kleuren met hier en daar een accent kleur. Soms sluiten we dus een compromis: er komt nu een kleurtje op de muur in de woonkamer en nieuwe zwart-wit-grijze kussens op de bank. De muur is nog niet geschilderd maar de kussens zijn wel al klaar.

De witte stof met zwarte bedrukking vond ik bij ikea. Voor de achterzijde gebruikte ik een heerlijk zacht stofje en om het geheel wat chiquer te maken, heb ik rondom een zwarte paspel toegevoegd.

Voor de vierkante grijze kussens heb ik stof uit mijn voorraad gebruikt. De rits heb ik weggewerkt bij de witte paspel volgens de handleiding van oontje.

Sometimes my partner and I don´t agree about home interior, that´s most of the time about the use of colors. He wants bright colors, I like neutral colors. Sometimes we have to make a compromis. So one wall in our living room will be painted in a green/gray color and the red colors cushions on the couch will be replaced for white/black ones. The cushion are already made by me!

I used fabric from ikea with a black/ white paspel. I used the tutorial of oontje for the zipper of the grey cushions.
